The New England Aquarium’s mission is to protect the blue planet through hands-on programs, live animal and interactive exhibits, public lectures and forums, and research and conservation projects. All prospective dive interns must have logged a minimum of 25 open water dives, at least 5 of which have taken place in the previous 12 month period.Must be able to pass a diving-specific physical and a checkout dive with our diving safety officer (DSO).Assistance with medical and animal acclimation procedures. ![]() Diving in the GOT for underwater feedings and maintenance tasks.Interns are an integral part of our team, helping with all aspects of animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance. 4 feeding dives and 2 maintenance dives occur daily and are on a tight schedule. It is a 200,000 gallon Caribbean reef exhibit and is home to over 1000 animals and 100 species, including tropical bony fish, sharks and stingrays, and sea turtles. The easiest way to get to the aquarium is by riding the "T" to downtown's Aquarium subway station since parking in the area is limited. To participate in a whale watching tour or watch a film, travelers will be charged an extra fee. All tickets include access to the aquarium's main exhibits, restrooms, a gift shop and a cafe. Tickets cost $34 for adults and $25 for children between 3 and 11 visitors with CityPASS tickets or Go Boston Cards receive complimentary admission. The New England Aquarium's hours vary depending on the season and day of the week, but generally, the aquarium welcomes visitors from 9 a.m. Several travelers also recommend watching a penguin or seal feeding. While some visitors bemoan the aquarium's compact size (which, in turn, made for thick crowds), many appreciate the attraction's variety of animals. And don't forget to check out the Shark and Ray Touch Tank, which allows visitors to graze sharks and rays as they swim by. In other parts of the aquarium, you'll find exhibits dedicated to penguins, sea jellies and seadragons, plus a six-story high projection movie screen with digital surround sound, where you can watch films about sea creatures and more. This four-story tank includes a coral reef habitat that houses more than 1,000 underwater creatures including green sea turtles, eels and barracuda.
